Job Description- Accounting Manager

The accounting manager role is responsible for performing any combination of duties relating financial transactions, reporting and supports the Chief Financial Officer by ensuring the proper GAAP presentation of all financial statements are complete.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Oversee month end closing activities including the input of general journal entries, performing account reconciliations, and creation and input of accruals, reversing and closing entries.
  • Prepare, analyze and issue timely and accurate interim and annual financial statements
  • Oversee the daily operations of the accounting department and advise staff regarding handling of non-routine transactions
  • Hire, train and supervise employees who work under the accounting manager and ensure employees are cross trained.
  • Assist with inventory controls and measurement for internal and external reporting
  • Monitor & analyze accounting data to produce daily/monthly reports for management
  • Assist in establishing and ensuring enforcement of accounting policies, best practices and internal controls
  • Maintain files and supporting records to document transactions
  • Coordinating the activities of the external auditors and tax preparers
  • Perform sales and property tax return preparation and filing
  • Support budget and forecasting activities
  • Assist in maintaining the fixed asset management system, including proper recording fixed assets
  • Maintain good relationships with members of management including developing systems to better meet their needs

Key Skills & Qualifications

  • A 4-year accounting degree is required
  • 2-4 years experience in progressively increasing roles
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Working knowledge of accounting software.
  • CPA certification is desired
